I’m Letty Bastian, a Nurse Practitioner with 20 years of experience in Western medicine.
With 20 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner, I have seen both the strengths and the gaps within our healthcare system from many perspectives. My commitment to finding the best options for patient care inspired me to pursue a Masters in Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture at RMIT Melbourne.
I have designed a clinic that thoughtfully blends Western medical practices with Eastern medicine, applying each where it is most beneficial. Led by a Nurse Practitioner, our generalist clinic provides evidence-based Complementary Adjunctive Medicines (CAMs).
My specialty lies in integrating acupuncture as an adjunctive treatment alongside Western medicine, offering patients a holistic approach that combines the best of both worlds for optimal health outcomes.
I'm now practising in Gisborne and the Macedon Ranges.

WHAT IS A NURSE PRACTITIONER?
The Australian College of Nurse Practitioners describes a Nurse Practitioner (NP) as a Registered Nurse with the experience, and authority to diagnose and treat people of all ages with a variety of health conditions. NPs have completed additional university studies at the master’s degree level and are the most senior and independent clinical nurses in our healthcare system
As an Emergency Nurse Practitioner, I have spent years treating patients in high-pressure clinical settings, managing pain, acute injuries, chronic conditions and rural and remote settings. My practice integrates western medical training with the holistic principles of acupuncture, creating individualised treatment plans tailored to each patient.
As a Nurse Practitioner I will work alongside your medical practitioner, GP or specialist to offer a holistic approach to your healthcare.
PIONEERING ACUPUNCTURE IN EMERGENCY MEDICINE
I am part of a groundbreaking project at Northern Health, in collaboration with RMIT University, where acupuncture is being trialled as an adjunctive treatment for acute and chronic pain in emergency settings.
This research aims to expand healthcare options for patients by providing adjunctive therapies alongside traditional pain medications. By integrating acupuncture with conventional treatments, we hope to offer more comprehensive pain management solutions that are both effective and evidence based.
Acupuncture is increasingly recognised as an effective, research-backed adjunctive intervention for conditions such as lower back pain, migraines, and nausea post operation recovery.
